It’s that time of year again! It’s time to round up your friends and family, come up with an awesome group name, and get registered for this years Relay for Life Event. I myself will be participating for the second year in a row, reuniting with my team “Friends Fighting Cancer”. I had so much fun last time, there was no way I could refuse an invitation to take part once again ^_^
What I love most about this rely – aside from the obvious fact that it raises awareness and money for a noble cause – is that it brings people together from all over the world, people who understand what it means to be affected by something like this. I find that one of the main reasons that so many people go on suffering from things like hunger, disease and war is because those with the means to help them cannot empathize with their situation. It is one thing to know that something is going on, but a whole other thing to be experiencing it first hand. Of course, I’m not saying that everyone should make themselves suffer in order to help others, but it wouldn’t hurt to at least try and understand their plight.

Everyone is touched by cancer, whether they get it themselves or they know someone close to them who got it. Too many people die at such a young age from this disease, given barely enough time truly experience what life has to offer. Even if you just share this post with others, then you would be making a huge contribution to our endeavor to stop this disease dead in its tracks.
That’s all for today. Tomorrow, my post will be coming to you, once again, from aboard the Via Rail Train on my way back to Ottawa. Reading week never seems to last long enough. Oh well, just a couple more months until the summer ^_^ Until next time, happy reading!
